GOD THAT GIVE LIFE TO ALL THINGS – PART 1

1Tim 6:13 KJV I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

Paul here was giving charge to Timothy and in the charge, he gave us one the attributes of God. He said God quickens all things. The Greek word they used for quickeneth is “zōopoieō” It means: dzo-op-oy-eh’-o:

to produce alive, begat or bear living young

to cause to live, make alive, give life

by spiritual power to arouse and invigorate

to restore to life

to give increase of life: thus of physical life

of the spirit, quickening as respects the spirit, endued with new and greater powers of life

metaphorically, of seeds quickened into life, i.e. germinating, springing up, growing

vitalize, make alive and give life,

In other words, it means to preserve or give life. And He gives life to all things. There is nothing He cannot give life to. Without life they are dead. The difference between a living thing and non living thing is life.

How is God able to give life? What made Him have that attribute?

Joh 5:26 KJV For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

Father means source, originator, provider and generator.

The term “As the Father hath life” means God is the source of all life. He is thence called the living God, in opposition to idols which have no life. Act 14:15

The phrase “In himself” – This means that life in God, or existence, is not derived from any other being. Our life is derived from God. Gen 2:7; God “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul” – that is, a living being. All other creatures derive their life from him. Psa 104:30, Psa 104:29

Joh 1:4 KJV In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

God is declared to be “life,” or the “living” God, because he is the source or fountain of life. This attribute is here ascribed to Jesus Christ. He not merely made the material worlds, but he also gave “life.” He was the agent by which the vegetable world became animated; by which brutes live; and by which man became a living soul, or was endowed with immortality

The Living God possesses life wholly in himself and so he has bestowed this power of life to the Son as already stated in the Prologue of the Logos (Joh 1:3)

Why do things need quickening?

In the Bible quickening is always talking about quickening from the dead or from sin.

When there is need for strength or renewal.

When there is no life in them

When they are not functional optimally

When the original has been tampered with

How does He give life?

  1. BY His words: Joh 6:63 KJV It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
  2. By His Spirit: 2Cor 3:6 KJV Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Joh 6:63 KJV It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

  1. Through Holy Communion” 1Cor 11:24-25 KJV 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
  2. Through miraculous power:

I will start with the last one which is through His miraculous power.

Num 17:1-9 KJV 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod. 3 And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers. 4 And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you. 5 And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you. 6 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods. 7 And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness. 8 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. 9 And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

In the text we read, there had been murmuring and complaints from the tribe of Levi about Moses and Aaron in Num 16. They felt they too were leaders and the rebellion grew with over 250men accompanying Korah, Datan and Abiram. They ganged against Moses and Aaron. When you read the story, they were disgraced and the ground opened and swallowed them. Everyone that has gathered against you shall experience the same in Jesus name.

Isai 54:15 says surely they shall gather together but not by me, whosoever gathers against you shall fall for your sake.

Isa 54:15 KJV Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

If they gather against you in your compound, they shall fall, if it is in your office, they shall fall and if it is in the village, they shall fall in Jesus name.

In order to settle this issue of who God has chosen once and for all, God asked all the tribes to be represented by one rod each and they should have the name of each tribe on the rod representing them. The rods were kept in the sanctuary overnight. When the morning came, they brought out all the rods and one was different.

Num 17:8 KJV And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.

To see a piece of wood long cut off from the parent stock, without bark or moisture remaining, laid up in a dry place for a single night, with others in the same circumstances-to see such a piece of wood resume and evince the perfection of vegetative life, budding, blossoming, and bringing forth ripe fruit at the same time, must be such a demonstration of the peculiar interference of God, as to silence every doubt and satisfy every scruple.

Moses there beheld the remarkable spectacle of Aaron’s rod—which was a stick of an almond tree, bearing fruit in three different stages at once—buds, blossoms, and fruit.

The rods were absolutely dead, not a sign of life was there. And Aaron’s rod received life during that night and life was there in its abundance, buds, blossoms and almonds.

The murmurings of the children of Israel were taken away by the rod of Aaron. When something unique takes place in your life, the mouth of adversaries will silenced forever.

This rod was a shepherd rod with which Aaron took care of flocks. Over the night, a dry rod came alive, producing flowers and fruits in less than 24hours. Life was imparted unto it.

Whatever is considered dead in any man’s life shall receive life in Jesus name.

The Bible says twelve rods were kept overnight but only Aaron rod budded. God singled out Aaron. There could be many people packed together or gathered together for an interview, job placement, scholarship, opportunity or for any other good thing. I pray for you that you will be distinguished in the name of Jesus. May God single you out for a blessing that will shock your enemies in Jesus name. That anointing is here, it will take you from the crowd.

This reminded me of the same rod in the wilderness and at Pharaoh’s palace.

Case study 2: The rod in the wilderness

Exo 4:2-3 KJV 2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. 3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

The rod of Moses turned into a serpent.

when the rod got to Pharaoh’s palace, it changed again. Life was impacted into it

Exo 7:10-12 KJV 10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

Rod pass rods, power pass power. Every rod of Egyptian operating around you shall be swallowed up in Jesus name.

The rod parted the red sea

Exo 14:16 KJV But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

The rock came alive and produced water

Exo 17:5-6 KJV 5 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go. 6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

Whatever is holding what belongs to you shall be released by fire in Jesus name.

Rock is very hard but that day, it received life and gave its water, your rock shall release  its water in Jesus name.

Other instances:

The woman that touch the hem of Jesus cloth

The apron and handkerchief of Paul

The shadow of Peter

The anointing oil

Two lessons to be learnt

  1. whatever is considered dead should be brought to the Lord and laid before Him
  2. Lay it overnight, that is, give it time. it will receive life from God who is able to give life to all things.

What is your role?

Isa 11:1 KJV And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

From what the Lord said about Himself in Jn 5: 26, we added this one

Joh 5:26-27 KJV 26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; 27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

He has authority or power to give life and make judgment because He is a man is what this place is saying. Only a spirit with a human body can operate on earth. So Jesus was able to do those things not as God but as man. He also said that anyone that believes shall do  the work he was doing.

Joh 14:12 KJV Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

He called Himself light, he said i am the light of the world. What He called Himself is what He called us. He said you are the light of the world. Therefore we have life in us and what the Father imparted to the Son, the son has imparted unto us, so we too can impart life.

Messiah was predicted as the “light” of the world, Isa 9:2, compared with Mat 4:15-16; Isa 60:1. See Joh 8:12; “I am the light of the world;” Joh 12:35-36, Joh 12:46; “I am come a light into the world.”

Light is in all languages, therefore, put for “knowledge” – for whatever enables us to discern our duty, and that saves us from the evils of ignorance and error. “Whatsoever doth make manifest is light,” Eph 5:13

It means we too can act that way. We can impart life. We can give life because He has given us life. I can tell things to receive life. I can tell my business that looks dead to receive life. I can tell my body to receive life. I can command life to be imparted.
