Helpers along the way

Even after receiving direct clear direction from the Lord, most often a time, we will still need people that will help fulfil those promises of God for our lives. We will have to take note the role play by these people without which the prophecy, word or promise may not be fulfilled.

1Sam 30:8-17 KJV 8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. 9 So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed. 10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor. 11 And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water; 12 And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights. 13 And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick. 14 We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire. 15 And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company. 16 And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah. 17 And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.

The text we read above was the story of David when the Amalekites invaded Ziglak his residential abode and made away with all the women, children and properties. As if that was not enough they burnt the whole town and left with their spoils.
When David and his men returned they were devastated and discouraged. You need to see adult warrior men crying like babies. it was so bad. The Bible even recorded that they wanted to stone David after all if it were not for his sake they would have been around and defended their wives and children.

So many times in life whenever we face some misfortunes or challenges, we look for whom to blame and pass the responsibility on. The Amalekite also carried away David’s wives but people did not want to know about David’s own, they were concerned about their own families. Such are people with these kind of mind set.
However, despite all these the bible says that David was not perturbed and he encouraged himself in the Lord his God. David remembered the good days of old when he was in the wilderness and God delivered him from the jaws of lion and bear, he remembered how he killed Goliath with one stone by the help of God, he equally remembered all his previous expeditions and so many victories he had won. He was convinced that God that did all those things is still available and He will see him through. His goodness is new every morning and even for ever more.

David sought the face of the Lord and he got a definite answer to go and pursue the Amalekites and that he will surely recovered all they have stolen from him.
I pray for you that all the enemy has stolen from you shall be recover speedily in Jesus name.

David and his four hundred men left but here is one problem, it has been days since the Amalekites left, how will they know the way they have gone? There were no GPS or compass or any equipment like drone that help with directions. If they wondered there for a long time in the wilderness the Amalekites would have gone so far and it would be unlikely for David and his men to locate them. They need help.

1Sam 30:11 KJV And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;

Just as they were contemplating on what to do and which direction they should take, they stumble on an Egyptian man that was almost dead from sickness and hunger. It seems he could be of no use. The master that left the sick man thought that the guy may not survive or as slave, his life does not matter. What a great cruelty. But you see that error they made in leaving the guy was an advantage and opportunity for David. We should never despised the weak and the struggling people around us. They my be instrument of change or helpers that we will need as time goes on. Even God uses the weak and despised things of this life.

1Cor 1:26-28 KJV 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

This man was fed with food and drinks and he was revived again. He asked David to swear to him that he will not be delivered into the hand of his master and that he won’t be killed. David swore to him. The young man took them to the direction and the location of where the Amalekites were. David caught them unaware and unprepared because they felt secured. They were rooted and all the captives were rescued and spoils taken.

What made the victory to be possible was the role of that young man. Some war experts tagged him to be a traitor but in the divine wisdom of God had orchestrated what transpired. The guy fell sick and the master abandoned him, after all he was just a common slave. However, God used the same abandoned man as destiny helper for David. His assistance made victory to be possible. God had planted him on the way.

There are people that God had planted on our ways of progress in life and destiny actualization. Many times we missed them, we underates them, we bypass and ignore them. David would have killed the young man immediately he found out that he was among those people that invaded Ziklag or as soon as they saw on him and there wouldn’t be an avenue to get all the information needed.

Information
information is defined as things that are or can be known about a given topic; communicable knowledge of something. It is the act of informing or imparting knowledge; notification. The systematic imparting of knowledge; education, training. The creation of form; the imparting of a given quality or characteristic; forming, animation. The meaning that a human assigns to data by means of the known conventions used in its representation. it is also Divine inspiration.
I will define information as the bridge that crosses you from where you are to where you are suppose to be

What David needed was the information that will enable him to track, pursue and recover the looted goods and properties. God put a man across his path but the man did not automatically releases the vital information needed by David. David had to worked on him; by persuading him, negotiating and giving the guy an assurance of his safety.
In life there are people that God has positioned across our path and the responsibility lies on us to take advantage and get the required information.

Supply their need
First David supplied what the man needed before he could get what he needed. Life is full of give and take. Many Christians wants to take and receives always but they don’t want to give. Lk 6: 38 admonishes us to give and then it shall be given unto us much beyond what we had given. When you meet people and they are in need, don’t say your own need is more important and you now try and squeeze information from them either by threatening and coercion. David fed the man and when the man was revived and could talk, then they engaged him in profitable negotiation.

Negotiation
The process of achieving agreement through discussion. David had to negotiate with the sick man on the sick man’s terms. David had no choice because the information needed is pivotal to the success of the expenditure. David agreed to do what the man wishes and it paid off. Sometimes we should not insist on our own rights but concede where necessary for the sake of getting our required information without compromising our stand on core values of life.

Act on the information immediately
Immediately David received all he needed to know from the man he proceeded on his journey. There was no lingering or delay any longer and they were able to get the Amalekite. It is important we act as fast as possible once we received the information we needs because it may not be the same story again after some days or months. Faith without work is dead. The coast cannot be more clearer than this. He got an assurance from God and then got information about the direction or the route the Amalekites took. There was no room for procastination.

In the contemporary times
Information is power. These are the days of information technology with super fast Internet speed connection that makes us to reach the other side of the world in seconds, makes video conversation and do much. The world is now a global village. Computer knowledge with its world wide web stores considerable information on researches, presentations and papers submitted on various topics of human endeavours. So sometimes the information you need or additional information that can help us make best decision can be gotten through the Internet. We can refine some of the details and remove or incorporate as the case may be. The popular adage is “Google is your friend”.

Holy Spirit information system
This is what is defined as divine inspiration, a knowing, intuitive knowledge, prompting, quickening of mind, impression and so on and so forth. The most dependent and reliable information that can be relied on completely and accurately is Holy Ghost divine inspiration. He knows the mind of God and can relay the same to our spirit and our mind can grasp what the Spirit is saying once we renew our mind.

Rom 8:27 KJV And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Joh 16:13 KJV Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

There are helpers that God has destined to help you in life. They are specially assigned to you and have been positioned at different stages in life as you move towards the big picture of your goal.
Another area where helpers came to David took place seven years after Saul had died and he was reigning ove Judah tribe alone. Actually he was to rule over the whole Israel. How will that be? One tribe against eleven tribe?

1Chr 12:22-23 KJV 22 For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God. 23 And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.

These warriors came in large number with a single aim; to turn the kingdom from Saul unto David. They made it possible for David to fulfil destiny when it seems impossible for him to get on the throne.

When we get to a point in life where it seems there is no way again, every attempt we make bounces back, it is time then to ask for the helpers destined for such a time like that. The events in our lives is not taking God by surprise, everything has been positioned and taken care of. All we need to do is ask Him to reveal to us the helpers for that season. The young man of Egypty was not an helper to get David to the throne neither were the great army destined to help David recovered the looted properties. Everyone has their place at different points and seasons in life.
