Inquisition or enquiry prayers

Inquisition or enquiry prayers
Sometimes we feel frustrated in prayers and seeking the face of God. One of the facts of prayer is that it is a two way communication but most of the time we don’t wait to hear the side of God or His response. We just pray and start singing and thanking Him because it is a done deal.
And when we wait for answer and we don’t see or hear anything we feel guilty and condemn and says may be it is because of unconfessed sin, or past mistakes, etc. After we have done all we have known to do and it seems that we are delayed or answers are not forth coming rather than blame God or continue to bind the devil, we need to do something else.
It need to be settled that God loves us the same way He loves the Lord Jesus

Joh 17:23 KJV I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

God does not do favouritism
There are things we can do to draw more of God’s favour, mercy and blessing unto us. This is through knowledge and that is why 1Pet 1: 3 says Grace and peace be multiply through the knowledge of God.
Prob says through knowledge shall the just be delivered ..into their inheritance. Our problem is not devil, government, people but ourselves. We are most of the time our own problem. God has done His part and gave us all the tools we need.

Definition of inquisition: an investigation or inquiry into the truth of some matter, an inquest, a questioning, The finding of a jury, especially such a finding under a writ of inquiry. Inquiry is a synonym of question.
As nouns the difference between inquiry and question is that inquiry is the act of inquiring; a seeking of information by asking questions; interrogation; a question or questioning while question is a sentence, phrase or word which asks for information, reply or response; an interrogative. As a verb question is to ask questions of; interrogate; enquire; ask for information.

Rebekah
Gen 25:21-23 KJV 21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. 23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

Rebekah did not place her hand on her tommy and command peace to reign, or rebuke the devil, she didn’t even have that authority to do that-Hope we know why?
Rather she asked question.

Moses example
A man that violate Sabbath law

Num 15:32-35 KJV 32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. 33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. 34 And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. 35 And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

a man that blaspheme
Lev 24:11-14 KJV 11 And the Israelitish woman’s son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:) 12 And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be shewed them. 13 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 14 Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

Joshua example
When Israel was defeated after their victory over Jericho, rather than Joshua seeking the face of God on what happened or why they were defeated, rather he was querying God.

Jos 7:6-11 KJV 6 And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads. 7 And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan! 8 O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies! 9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name? 10 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? 11 Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

Just like many of us who will be blaming God and ask God why did He allow such things to happen to us? and what was our offense after all we are serving Hm, paying our tithe, etc.

Another example of Joshua failure to seek counsel

Gibeonite deceived them

Jos 9:14-16 KJV 14 And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD. 15 And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them. 16 And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.

Example of men of men of Israel & Benjamin

Jdg 20:18 KJV And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the LORD said, Judah shall go up first.

The first time they only asked who will lead them into battle, they didn’t ask whether they should go and if they will be victorious. they based their assumption on the will of God and the justness of their cause. They got the required answer to go but they were defeated.

They were defeated even though they enquired but yet they asked again

Jdg 20:23 KJV (And the children of Israel went up and wept before the LORD until even, and asked counsel of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And the LORD said, Go up against him.

They seemed to have some doubt, by the loss they sustained, whether they were right in going to war with Benjamin, especially as he was their brother; and therefore the question now is, not who should go up first, which was already determined, but whether they should go at all; and still they do not ask any help of God in battle, nor success, but were depending on their numbers, and the justness of their cause, and therefore neither is promised to them, only they have an answer to their question:(Gill)
They were defeated again but they didn’t give up

Jdg 20:28 KJV And Phineas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the LORD said, Go up; for to morrow I will deliver them into thine hand.

The question is put in somewhat different manner than before, not only desiring to know whether it was the will of God they should renew the battle or not, since Benjamin was their brother, but whether they should have success or not; intimating, that if the Lord would bless and help them, they were willing to go up, but if not they chose to desist; for they were fully convinced now they were wrong in depending on their numbers, or the justness of their cause; whereas success depended wholly on the will and pleasure of God, to which they desired to submit:
They got the promise to go and notes of victory.”and the Lord said, go up, for tomorrow I will deliver them into thine hand”; now they are not only directed to go up to the battle, but are promised victory
Why were they defeated twice? Wrong way of asking questions.

David example
David at Keilah

1Sa 23:1-4 KJV 1 Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors. 2 Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah. 3 And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines? 4 Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

The men of keilah will not reciprocate the good gesture of David because of the fear of Saul

1Sa 23:10-12 KJV 10 Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. 11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down. 12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

When they heard that David was anointed king the Philistine came looking for him, David did not rush out to fight them but he enquired from the Lord two time

2Sa 5:17-21 KJV 17 But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. 18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 19 And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. 20 And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim. 21 And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

After the first defeat, they still came again, David did not say i am an expert if i can defeat them the last time i will defeat them again but he enquired

2Sam 5: 22-2522 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 23 And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. 24 And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines. 25 And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.

When David went on espionage and came back to meet his camp raided, others were crying but he enquired. He did not allow the emotion to blind him into making decision rashly.

1Sa 30:7-8 KJV 7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. 8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

Asaph would have back-slided if not that he enquired
Psa 73:16-17 KJV 16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

When we ask question you we have to ask in faith and intelligently.

Zacharias asked the angel question in doubt and unbelief and got punished whereas Mary asked question and got answer.
Luk 1:18-20 KJV 18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. 19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. 20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

See Mary question
Luk 1:34-35 KJV 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Example of Peter
Joh 21:21 KJV Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
We need to ask questions like Oh Lord show me what i need to do. What d you want me to do? Where do you want me to go? How should i go about it? Who are the people i should meet? Oh Lord direct my path.
