Help in time of need

Everyone needs one form of help or the other. We face situations and challenges in life that all our human abilities may not be able to see us through. Some challenges like physical, medical, emotional and psychological do happens and we will need all the help and assistance we can get to overcome them and moved on. Who will help us when we need urgent and immediate assistance?.

Exo 2:15-25 KJV 15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well. 16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock. 17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock. 18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day? 19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock. 20 And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread. 21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter. 22 And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land. 23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. 24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.

Moses probably out of weariness was sitting by the well side. It was not too long that the seven daughters of Jethro came to feed their fathers flock. The Bible says that the heard men drove them away. What happened was that the shepherds will wait for them to fetch water, filled the though and when they were about feeding their flocks then the shepherds will come and pursue them away
The fact seems to be, that, as the daughters of Reuel filled the troughs and brought their flocks to drink, the shepherds drove those away, and, profiting by the young women’s labour, watered their own cattle. Moses resisted this insolence, and assisted them to water their flocks
Every power wasting your efforts shall be wasted away in Jesus name.
Every power of !labouring without results shall be defeated for you in Jesus name.

The context shows that this was not an accidental or occasional circumstance, but the regular practice of the shepherds, who thus day after day saved themselves the trouble of drawing. When Moses saw what was happening, probably the ladies called for help or he volunteered to help the Bible says Moses rose up from where he was sitting by the well and helped them.
Moses could have careless after all he had his own challenges, do you know that there are some people ordained, positioned by the well side like Moses for you. They are just watching. But after this prayer, power of God shall locate them and stir them up for you.

I don’t know your own Moses in life but I pray for you may he rise up for you in Jesus name.
The daughters of Jethro were oppressed but Moses championed their cause, he delivered them. Everyone under the oppression of the devil is set free now in Jesus name.
Whosoever will champion your cause in life may them appear this week, may them locate you now in Jesus name.
Lesson for us Christians today

Moses was fleeing from Pharaoh. He needed help, he needed accommodation, he needed food and drinks and above all he needed job. Despite that he helped them. Many a times we Christians are paranoid, self centered and we are so engrossed in our own issues that will forget others.
You know as Christians this is what we are called to do. To the ladies Moses was God sent.

May you be that to somebody in Jesus name. He was a present help in time of need. He was already there and when the problem arose he rose to the challenge.
When the ladies got home that day their father was surprised, he was not expecting them at that time. He was used to seen then much later in the night but now they came very early.

There are things that has been delayed in our lives but can be speeded up if there are helpers. Some of us have been in something for some time now and its dragging, after this Sunday service, help will locate you in Jesus
The father asked them how come they were able to come home early? They said an Egyptian helped us. They didn’t even know his name or his nationality.
God can use anybody. Whoever he has designed to help you will surface in Jesus name. Moses was at the right place at the right time.
Here is another lesson

What Moses needed was granted. The father of the girls reciprocated the good gestures, moses got accommodation, got a job and got himself one of the daughters.. Luke 6:38 says give and it shall be given unto you. When you help others help will also locate you. Don’t be like many Christians who want to receive first before helping others. They are postponing their mercies. They that are merciful shall obtain mercy.
Its good to have help at the right time when you needed it. And God is a present help in time of need.

Psa 46:1 KJV To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Under the new covenant we are not helpless. We can always access help anytime anywhere and anyplace. Why? Because of the atonement of Jesus.

Heb 4:14-16 KJV 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Before, nobody can come into the holy of holies except the high priest and that with sacrifice for his own sin and the sin of the people. Because of our high priest Jesus, who has gone into the temple in heaven for us. And he performed one time sacrifice unlike the old testament priests who has to go into holy place everyday and enters into the most holy place once in a year to offer sacrifice for sin, Jesus was both the sacrifice and high priest, he offered himself for us and has become our forerunner.
That is why the writer of Hebrew says let us, all of us, not only one person or one priest now but all of us come with boldness, freedom of speech to the throne of grace and not to the throne of justice.

To help in time of need- For a seasonable support; that is, support when necessary, and as necessary, and in due proportion to the necessity. The word is properly rendered assistance, help, or support; but it is an assistance in consequence of the earnest cry of the person in distress, for the word signifies to run at the cry. So, even at the throne of grace, or great propitiatory, no help can be expected where there is no cry, and where there is no cry there is no felt necessity; for he that feels he is perishing will cry aloud for help, and to such a cry the compassionate High Priest will run; and the time of need is the time in which God will show mercy; nor will he ever delay it when it is necessary(Barne)

Many people don’t know that we have free access to the father, you don’t need an intermediary, you don’t need a pastor or prophets and mama of prayer somewhere to pray for you, or seek the face of God for you or find out the will God for you. God is our present help at this time in our country. May be you need help in your affairs, marriage, home, to pay rent, fees, bills, win souls, he is more than Moses by the well, he closer to us than we can ever imagine.

So where do we get help?
Our helper lives in us

Joh 14:18 KJV I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
The Greek word for ” comfortless” is “orphanos” and it means: bereft (of a father, of parents), of those bereft of a teacher, guide.
In order word I will not leave you helpless I will come back unto you and He did came in Holy Spirit. Now our helper is here with us.

Joh 14:26 KJV But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
This is how amplified Bible put it and in All these attributes of Holy Spirit is everything we needed.

John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever–

Many people thinks that God know their need and he ought to help them without them asking for it. But we have to receive his help, we have to call out for it. I give a case study of Apostles. They were I trouble.
Case study

Mar 6:46-50 KJV 46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray. 47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. 48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. 49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: 50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
Verse 49 says “he would have passed by them”. Wait a minute he was coming to assist them because he saw them toiling yet he will not pour help on them without them seeking for it.

He was actually coming to help them but He made as if He was going else where and they have to cried out for His help before He turned to come to them. The things of God does not automatically coe to pass in a man’s life.
But help of God does not automatically come to pass. We have to call on him

Rom 10:13 KJV For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The Greek word for “call upon” is epikaleomai and it means to invoke (for aid, worship, testimony, decision, etc.): – appeal.
Your calling is a recognition of his presence and ability to help. That is your faith response to what grace has made available. God by grace of our Lord Jesus has made everything available but we have to respond in faith. We have to receive the help by calling on him
Remember “in time of need” to find grace to help in time of need. Grace is available but we have to respond to it.
This week help will locate you.

Psa 18:3 KJV I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Psa 50:15 KJV And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Psa 86:7 KJV In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
Call upon Jesus in the days of trouble call upon him, he will answer you.

Psa 91:15 KJV He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
