Disqualified by law but qualified by grace

There are many laws that govern the universe. Government of nations also rules by law. Sometimes the law restrain people from doing what they ought to do or would have loved to do. Law demands while grace provides. Grace has qualified us to receive those things the law prevents us from having.

Heb 7:11-15 KJV 11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

One of the major reasons why we have the New Covenant was because of the problem with the Old Covenant.

Heb 8:7 KJV For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

The Levitical priesthood on which the old covenant was based cannot perfect the people or sinners, it cannot make full atonement, it cannot make or give eternal life, it cannot set people free from guilty conscience, according to Heb 10, there is always a remembrance of sin.

The word perfection in Greeks the completing or finishing of any thing, so as to leave nothing imperfect, and nothing wanting. Applied here to the Levitical priesthood, it signifies the accomplishment of that for which a priesthood is established, viz.: giving the Deity an acceptable service, enlightening and instructing the people, pardoning all offences, purging the conscience from guilt, purifying the soul and preparing it for heaven, and regulating the conduct of the people according to the precepts of the moral law. This perfection never came, and never could come, by the Levitical law; it was the shadow of good things to come, but was not the substance. It represented a perfect system, but was imperfect in itself. It showed that there was guilt, and that there was an absolute need for a sacrificial offering to atone for sin, and it typified that sacrifice; but every sacrificial act under that law most forcibly proved that it was impossible for the blood of BULLS and GOATS to take away sin.

It was needful, since the Levitical priesthood and law could not perfect sinners, that another should take place which could perfect them. David therefore, who lived about four hundred years after their institution, and feeling their imperfection, did by the Spirit foresee and tell of a royal priesthood and law to take place after this, that should perfect sinners, which could not be done by any called after Aarons imperfect order. This was the Lord Christ the Messiah, who must be after the order of Melchisedec, Psa 110:4, and who by his priesthood and law should abundantly effect it; which was far more excellent for both, than any of the Levitical family can pretend to.
The writer of Hebrew was comparing the priesthood of Jesus with that of Aaron.

However there were some salient facts that I will like to enumerate.
If the Levitical priesthood were perfect, if it could bring man into a perfect state, then why would God have said concerning the Messiah that, “Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Aaron”? It was because the Aaronic priesthood could not bring anything into perfection. Therefore, God reverts to greater priesthood, “Thou are a priest forever after the order of Melchisedec.”

For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar ( Heb 7:12-13 ).
So the fact that the priesthood is after the order of Melchisedec, there has to be a change of the law, because under the law you had to be of the tribe of Levi in order to be the priest.

But here is a priest after another order. Therefore, the law has to be changed, because we know he said that Jesus came from the tribe of Judah. And nothing in the law is said concerning the priesthood of the tribe of Judah, but it is an exclusive right for the tribe of Levi. For he of whom these things are spoken, Jesus is the one of whom this was spoken, “Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchisedec,” pertains to another tribe of which no man gave attendance at the altar. They did not serve before the altar of God, those from the tribe of Judah.
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood ( Heb 7:14 ).

In the book of Hebrews, he has brought out that we have a great high priest, even Jesus Christ, the righteous. The Jew would immediately challenge, “How could Jesus be a great high priest when He comes from the tribe of Judah?” Nothing is said in the law concerning the priesthood from the tribe of Judah. So here he pulls out this 110th Psalm, “For God has sworn and will not repent, ‘Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchisedec.'” And so he answers the argument of the Jew, who would declare there is no way Jesus could be a high priest coming from the tribe of Judah. He answers that argument quite thoroughly with his prophetic Psalm 110 .
According to the !aw, only people from the tribe of Levite’s can become an priest. And its only from the family or descendants of Aaron can someone become a high priest.
No other person can attained to that, those that tried coming nearer the ark were struck dead like Uzza, those that look into the ark were struck with sickness,

One of the duties of the priest is to make atonements for the sin of the people.
But there was a problem, it was discovered that the atonement been done by those priest could not brought perfection.
Then there must be a change. God desire perfection, the present system could not bring perfection.

Messiah had to come. Everybody seems to agree that Jesus was messiah but for Messiah to be able to do atonement he has to be a priest.
He was not from the tribe of Levi and also he was not from Aaron descendants. Therefore Jesus is not qualify to be a priest.
But here is the goodness that God had designed that Jesus would be a high priest. Psalm 110 gave that prophecy. He will be a high priest after another order, the order of Melchizedek. The word order there means a fixed succession of ranks.
In order for this to take place, there has to be a change of the law. If they are changing the priesthood from Aaronic priesthood then the law has to be changed. This is to fulfil the eternal purpose of God.

How does this apply to us?
There are laws, bylaws, family laws, community laws, there are edicts, ordinances, that has been put in place to guide the way things are done. The universe is govern by laws. There is law of gravity, there is law of thermodynamics. There are natural laws and there are supernatural laws.

There are laws that say only the indigene can be employed in companies, there are laws that says at certain age you can’t be employed and if you are employed you have to retire from service. Sometime these laws are to our advantages but most often at time, they limited us, they limited our chances, we discovered because of the law we can’t do certain things, our progress and destiny are limited. God purpose in a Man’s life can be frustrated because of laws and policies of man.

As far as Levitical laws was in place, Jesus could not become a priest, if he can not become a priest then he will not be able to perform the atonement that will set us free and bring a new covenant.
But when the order was changed, the laws annulled, he became our high priest

Advantages or benefits of Jesus priesthood

  1. He brings a new covenant which is established upon better promises
Here is the good news because Jesus has been made our high priest, a new covenant is now in place, that covevant has freed us from laws and restriction of the old covenant. It also gives us a new lease of life.
  2. It qualify us to work for God
Paul says not many of you that can’t be qualified has now been qualified.
In the world the legal system required that you have certain degree before you qualified to work and so many strife to get necessary degrees and certificates. I am not against that but in the things of God it doesn’t work that way. God set aside those things. See what Paul says
2Cor 3:5-6 KJV 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
He himself said he was qualified by God to be a minister.
Even God’s calling is not based on qualifications and merits. God has never had anybody qualify to work with him or for him
1Cor 1:26-28 KJV 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
  3. One of the immediate advantage of Christ becoming an high priest was that he paved way for us to come before God.
The law has been disannulled, commandments disannulled, because of the priesthood being changed.

For the law made nothing perfect, but it brought in a better hope; by which we draw nigh unto God ( Heb 7:19 ).
According to the law only the priest could enter into Holy of Holies and that is once in a year after he has make atonements to for his sin and that of his people. But when Jesus died on the dross the vail that separated the holy place from holy of holies was torn into two signifying that there is a new way now. All of us can come in now.
Heb 6:20 KJV Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
The word forerunner is “prodromos” and it means: one who comes in advance to a place where the rest are to follow
ROM 8:1-2 KJV For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and follow
Heb 4:16 KJV Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  1. Because of Jesus priesthood we too have been made priest. Where there is high priest there are also priest.
Rev 1:6 KJV And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Hitherto only Levite’s can be priest but that law has been set aside to enable us become priests too even though we are not from tribe of Levi. No native doctor called priest can harass us because it will be priest versus priest
    Implications
There are many of us that until the law is set aside we may not become what we are destined to be. Those laws have to be set aside, protocols has to be suspended to enables us fulfil what we are called to do. The laws are restriction. They could be verbal, pronouncements, or written down, there is better law, the law of the new covenant which is the law of spirit and life.
    Instances of protocol been broken
Sarah: The natural law was that after a woman reached a certain age, she can’t be normal again, thru faith the law set aside for Sarah despite her age she gave birth to Isaac
Gen 18:12 KJV Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
    Hebrew writer summarized everything
Heb 11:11 KJV Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Esther: the law says until you are called that you can’t come to in to the king but when Esther showed up, people e pected her to be arrested but the the king stretched his rod towards her
    Esther made her reservation
Est 4:11 KJV All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
But when they prayed and fasted for three days, after three days. In chapter five.
Est 5:1-2 KJV 1 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house. 2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
That’s why I know after this prayer where you can not into because of the law, the law shall be overruled to favor you.
In John 5, the law was that only the first person that enter the pool immediately after the angel stir or troubled the water that will be healed, when Jesus showed up at the pool, he changed the order of things.
  2. Joh 5:8-9 KJV 8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
The law of first born is that the firstborn receives two parts of inheritance, its called double portion of the Fathers inheritance and is blessed of the father. But when Joseph brought his two sos Ephraim and Manasseh to his father Jacob, Jacob crossed his ha d !aid his right hand o. Ephraim and set him above his senior brother
Gen 48:14 KJV And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.
    Consequently
Gen 48:19-20 KJV 19 And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations. 20 And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
All miracles are as a result of suspension of natural laws for supernatural laws. When Jesus walked on water, the natural law was set aside, when axe head floats on water in time of Elisha, the natural law was put on hold. Any law that has barred you shall be suspended for your sake. There will be miracles
There are also self imposed laws that we knowingly or unknowingly have made with our mouths. Some of us are living and reaping the fruit of our lips. Sometimes people sat I can’t do some things,it is difficult, it is not easy, I am broke. When say things like that you aside the of blessing and incurs the curses.
Num 30:3-4 KJV 3 If a woman also vow a vow unto the LORD, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth; 4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.
With these few examples, protocol can be changed, laws of limitations can be changed, we can be what God has destined us to be.
Somebody will say Pastor, but its happening to everybody, everybody in my family is suffering it. The good news is you are not everybody you are an new creation, when they say there is casting down, you will say there is lifting up. When they say there is epidemic in town, you will say psalm 91, he that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty I will say of the ?Lord he is my refuge, no p!ague shall come near my dwelling place, a thousand will fall by my side ten thousands by my rich hand but it shall not come near me. That is the law of exception. I am excepted from calamity, from evil, from untimely death.
Has anybody pronounced anything against you, has any law been made, did anyone say you can’t marry, buy a car, fulfil God’s purpose, they don’t have the final say, who has said and it has come to pass when the Lord has not commanded it?
Therefore we set aside every law, every ordinance of men, we violate them, annulled them, set them aside, suspend them for your sake.
Whatever has limited any an in your family shall not limit you in Jesus name.
Say I break free from every yoke of limitation, I refused to be redistricted.
    Prayers
Every law that has restricted me, limited me, every embargo placed on my life, be broken in Jesus name.
Mic 7:11 KJV In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.
