Luk 13:10-17 KJV 10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. 11 And, behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. 12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. 14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. 15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? 17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
The Lord Jesus was in the temple teaching about the kingdom when He sighted a woman that was crooked. What was the woman doing in the temple? You know there are people today that if they have any challenges physically, mentally or financially the first place they will abandon is the church.
Some people only come to church when everything is perfect. If they feel small pain, discomfort, headache, or have a feverish condition, they will not come to church that day. Such people forget that church is also a healing center but lack of faith has made many people not know what the church stands for. May your church profits you in Jesus name
But not this woman. She was still coming to the Synagogue regularly. She was not there for healing service. It was just a normal teaching service.
Some will lose interest in the things of God totally. Some would feel disappointed in God. Despite this woman’s challenges she was found in the Synagogue. I pray that the challenges of life will not drive you away from the Lord in Jesus name.
The Lord sighted her in the midst of the crowd of people and if you can imagine the meetings of Jesus, they were always jam packed. How come Jesus was able to pick her out even when the Bible described her condition that she could not lift her body? She was not the only person there with physical deformity.
May God single you out for an encounter with Him in Jesus name.
Among your peers, colleague, competitors, and fellows, may Be single you out for lifting in Jesus name.
I believe it was her time, her season and her day. May this day be your time, may this hour be your hour, may today be your day in Jesus name. The woman was in the right place at the right time when her miracle was due.
I pray for you, the day of your answer and the day of your miracle, may your seat not be vacant in Jesus name.
May you be at the right place at the right time.
To my amazement I expect everyone to rejoice with the woman but the Bible says the ruler of the Synagogue was indignant and angry that the woman was healed on a Sabbath day.
Luk 13:14 KJV And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
There are people that will not be happy with your happiness, breakthrough, and rejoice with you. They will like you to continue the way you are but after this encounter the Lord will disgrace them. In verse 17 all her adversaries were ashamed. Every adversary shall be put to shame in Jesus name.
Luk 13:17 KJV And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
When the man, the ruler of Synagogue was angry Jesus said some things that touched my heart.
Luk 13:16 KJV And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
The Lord challenged the ruler of the Synagogue that they themselves work on Sabbath day by taking their animals for watering, and that humans are much better than animals.
More so, The Lord was saying that the woman was a daughter of Abraham, a Jewish person. This is what caught my attention. What is that peculiar about that? Abraham had a great covenant with God Gen 17. His covenant was a covenant of grace like we have today. Abraham was the Father of faith. He had a blessing that through him shall all the nations of the earth be blessed Gen 12:1-3. She was not referred to as the daughter of Moses so we can’t say she was under the law and thus real what she sowed. She was not under covenant of performance.
Abraham their progenitor lived to the old age in good health. He was not suffering from pain, arthritis, leukemia, he was in perfect health to the extent that he remarried after Sarah’s death and gave birth to children.
Gen 25:8 KJV Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
Therefore, his children ought to replicate what he had. You get what is in the DNA of your parents.
On this premise the Lord is saying this lady ought not to be in this condition. She ought not to be in this bondage of Satan being a daughter of Abraham. So Jesus said because she was a daughter of Abraham she was qualified to be loosed from that bondage of the devil whether it was Sabbath or not.
That passage also makes us know the personality behind the woman’s case. Jesus exposed the devil. He said it was Satan that bound her. Most people attribute their problems unto God. God is not the author of confusion, problem and challenges. It was the devil.
I pray for everyone under the sound of my voice, every bondage of the devil is broken over your lives in Jesus name.
The bondage of the devil crippled the woman, she couldn’t act like a woman to her husband, to her children, she could not see the sun, she could not lift herself up. There are many lives under the bondage of the devil like this woman’s own; business is crippled, destiny is paralyzed, we are bound and tied down with challenges of life. But after this encounter, that bound is being broken now in Jesus name.
The reason why the woman was healed was very noticeable.
Under the new covenant, we too are sons and daughters of Abraham. Everyone that believes automatically becomes sons and daughters of Abraham.
Gal 3:7 KJV Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
Gal 3:9 KJV So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Gal 3:29 KJV and if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Who is a Jewish person now?
Rom 2:28-29 KJV 28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
These verses, we formed the conclusion started in 2:17. Paul wanted to prove that true Jews are not identified by their outward appearance (the phylacteries, paying tithes, or being circumcised. Rom-9:6). True Jews are those who have a proper heart.
Therefore, they are not permitted to be bound by the devil. You must know this very fact. This is what separates the boys from men and it is knowledge. It is possible that the reason why the woman was in that condition was what the Bible says: My people perish for lack of knowledge.
Hos 4:6 KJV My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Isa 5:13 KJV Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
She possibly lacked that knowledge of who she was, or she did not take advantage of what belongs to her based in Abrahamic covenant. the reality that she was a Jewish person and because of the covenant she ought not to suffer that predicament.
Come to Bible study. Don’t trade or substitute prayer meetings for Bible study.
So now we are spiritual Jews. We are now the seeds of Abraham. Based on that we ought not to be bound like common men.
Based on the finished work of the Lord Jesus, we too have been delivered. He laid for our sicknesses and diseases. Healing for our body, mind and general life is in the atonement.
1Pe 2:24 KJV Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Deliverance is based upon that premise. Deliverance is based on knowledge. It is the pivot of the argument in prayers. Your prayers over your businesses, ministries, career, jobs, vocations are based on that knowledge. the new testament is a testament of knowledge.
Joh 8:32 KJV And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
It is the truth or reality that makes a man free. Every area of our challenges is the area we have not renewed our minds to the reality of the new covenant.
We then pray on the strength of knowledge. Isaiah said bring forth your strong reason why you must be justified.
Isa 41:21 KJV Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
The Bible says when Jesus had laid His hand on her she was made straight. She could stand up upright on her own, what she could not do for sixteen years she could donut now.
Whatever has been bent around you shall receive resurrected power. It shall be straightened up in Jesus name. Your business shall be straightened up; your marriage shall be straightened out in Jesus name.
