Break this Alabaster box

It was customary among the ancients to regale their guests at entertainments with perfumes, odours, and chaplets of flowers, in token of respect. Such was the recorded event that took place at Bethany some few hours before the crucification of the Lord Jesus.

Mar 14:3-9 KJV 3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. 4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. 7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. 8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. 9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

When we read other accounts in the gospel we are able to get more revelations about this incidents.

Joh 12:2-3 KJV 2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. 3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

Jesus was in the house of one Simon a leper, actually he had been cleansed of that disease but the stigma was still attached to him.
I pray for you every reproach in your life is wiped out in Jesus name.

Another reason why they referred to him as Simon the leper is to distinguish him from other Simon in the Bible. There were Simon the Pharisees, Simon the disciple of Jesus and others like that. He was separated and distinguished by disease he had been cured of.
I pray for you again that every sickness and disease that will mark you out from peers and colleagues be terminated now in Jesus name.

While at the house of Simon, Bible says that a woman came, in Jn 12: 3 we know that it was Mary the sister of Lazarus that brought a very costly and expensive ointment in alabaster box, cruse or flask. It is called an alabaster, just as we call a drinking – vessel made of glass a glass. She brake the box, and poured it on his head—”and anointed,” adds John (Joh 12:3), “the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.”

She anointed both His feet and His head. The Holy Spirit reports the anointing of the head of the Lord in Matthew, because this is in harmony with the object of the Gospel. He is the King, and while He is the rejected King, her faith no doubt looked beyond death and burial. In John the Holy Spirit gives the anointing of the feet and leaves out the anointing of the head, because the King is the Son of God; as such he is described in the Gospel of John, and that attitude of Mary before His feet anointing them is in fullest harmony with the fourth Gospel.

The ointment was a perfume. It was used only to give a pleasant odor, and was liquid. She broke the box so as to enable her pour the content out. The flask was a small bottle with a thin neck and the bottle was opened by breaking the neck of the bottle. The value was about Three hundred pence – About forty dollars (or 9 British pounds).

when she poured the perfume the Bible says the whole house was filled with the odour of the ointment. My question is where was the odour before now? It was in the ointment but as long as the ointment was in the alabaster box, it is trapped and locked up. The moment the box was broken or opened the odour came out, changing the atmosphere positively and creating annoyance for the haters of the good work. The ointment or perfume was a very expensive and good one and that was what made Judas and others influenced by his reasoning opposed to its been poured out on Jesus. It was a valuable material.

Do you know that there is an alabaster box in you? There are some good things in you which you may not be aware of but that does not change the fact that they are in you. Read my book “IT IS IN YOU ALREADY” There are things that can change the atmosphere in your office and turn the place to the beehive of activities and there will be more sales. There are things in you that make the lame walk, blind see, deaf hear and dumb speak. There are things in you that can make another person’s day by making them happy. Do you know that God has put things in you to better your lots in life and help others?
Paul prayed for Philemon that the communication of his faith becomes effectual by the acknowledging of the good things in you in Christ. Those good things are in us because we are in Christ.
Peter in Act 3 says “that which i have give i unto you”. Where did he get it from?

Act 3:6 KJV Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

He had renewed his mind to what is already a reality in his spirit man. He has something that helped the lame man of forty years and change his story for life.

How do you get them out?
One of the many ways i listed in my book ” IT IS ALREADY IN YOU” is that you have to give expression to your faith. Call those things that be not as though they are Rom 4: 17. If you truly believes then speak out, and as you speak out act your fath. Do something.

Prayers:

I decree the release of every blessing i am carrying now in Jesus name.

I command all the graces of God in me to be released now in Jesus name.

I loose the power in me. Power flow in Jesus name Jn 7:37
