DEALING WITH INFLUENCE-THE INFLUENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
DEALING WITH INFLUENCE – INFLUENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
1Sa 10:1-12 KJV 1 Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance? 2 When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel’s sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son? 3 Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine: 4 And they will salute thee, and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands. 5 After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy: 6 And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee. 8 And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do. 9 And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day. 10 And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them. 11 And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets? 12 And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?
Saul had an encounter with Samuel. It was a God-arranged encounter. God caused the Ass of Kish the father of Saul to go missing. In searching for them, Saul came to the place where Samuel was residing. God deliberately and intentionally led him there so that he can be anointed as king. I pray for you, may your feet direct you to the place where blessing is waiting for you. May the Lord order your steps alright. It’s not about walking up and down.
After he was anointed, Samuel told Saul that as he departs, he will meet a company of Prophets and as he joins himself with them, he too would prophesy. It happened just like that. In verse 10, he met the prophets and the Spirit came on him and he too began to prophesied.
The influence of the Holy Spirit came upon him and he was turned into another man. People that knew him before as a farmer began to ask, is Saul also among the prophets.
After this encounter your stories will change for the better in Jesus’ name.
Not only that Samuel had informed him that something will begin to happen:
1Sa 10:3-4 KJV 3 Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine: 4 And they will salute thee, and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.
Surely, he met the following and they gave him what he did not solicit for. After this encounter, the things you did not beg for, appeal for, shall be given to you in Jesus name. Influence of the anointing.
Samson had experiences when under the influence of Holy Spirit
He was delivered from a lion:
Jdg 14:5-6 KJV 5 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. 6 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
When he was to pay debt he owed:
Jdg 14:19 KJV And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.
When he was bound and to be delivered to the enemy:
Jdg 15:14 KJV And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
He was doing exploits until Chapter 16 when the Spirit departed from him. He was arrested very cheaply.
Jdg 16:20 KJV And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.
There are some happenings in this life that are beyond human comprehension. One of them is how a man can run faster than a horse. Horses are built for strength, war and speed.
Pro 21:31 KJV The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
But something happened in 1Kg 18.
1Ki 18:45-46 KJV 45 And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. 46 And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
Ahab was already riding to Jezrel according to verse 45, but suddenly the hand of God came upon Elijah. The hand of God is what is called the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit came upon Elijah and he began to run and outran Ahab.
They may have gone ahead of you in terms of Job, settlement, promotions, material things but sooner or later under the influence of the Holy Spirit, you will outrun them in Jesus name. You will gain speed and acceleration over them in Jesus name. In this realm, overtaking is allowed.
When the Holy Spirit influence is on you, you will be delivered from the harassment of the devil around you.
Act 16:16-18 KJV 16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. 18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
The lady was a soothsayer just like many of the prophets many of us are visiting. How come this lady was speaking the right thing about Paul and Silas? It was by the spirit of divination. Just because someone or somebody that calls himself a prophet spoke certain things about you does not necessarily mean he is speaking by the spirit of God. Paul knew that if he continued to tolerate the girl, everyone would believe that they were all operating by the same spirit and this would invalidate the doctrine and teaching of Jesus.
You see there were two spirits at work here, the lady was operating by the influence of the spirit of divination. Paul under the influence of the Holy Spirit spoke to the spirit in the woman. I said it yesterday, the double kingdom system. When Paul cast out the spirit, the lady became hollow and helpless, she could no longer divinate. She lost her potential.
Every human agent being used against you loses its power in Jesus name.
You have the same ability too, when you deal with the spirit behind the scene, the human agent becomes hollow and useless. Instead of fighting flesh and blood, use the Spirit in you to deal with satanic spirits influencing them. Influencing those disturbing you, harassing you, embarrassing you.
Why did Paul tolerate the girl for that period of time? The Bible says she did those divination while following them for many days? Why was it allowed for so many days? Some people say because Paul was giving her room for repentance or that Paul was not initially bothered. But when the Lord appeared to Kenneth Hagin, the Lord told him that the reason why Paul was not in a hurry to cast out the spirit was because he was waiting for the unction and the anointing to come on him and when the anointing came, he spoke. The influence of the Holy Spirit.
Spirit pass spirit, power pass power
Another case study of been delivered from harassment of the devil:
Act 13:6-12 KJV 6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. 9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, 10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
This is a physical representation of what took place in the court of Persia where angel Gabriel was trying to influence the mind of the Kings of Persia and the Prince of Persia was withstanding him, so also was Paul preaching the gospel to Sergius Paulus but the spirit of the devil probably the prince of the locality was using Barjesus to withstand them.
What did Paul do?
Verse 8 is very important to the students of the Bible because this is the first time where Saul was addressed as Paul. The Bible says he was filled with the Holy Spirit then he uttered a powerful word of rebuke to the man. This time around he pronounced judgement upon the agent of the devil for a season. Every agent of the devil around you shall encounter fire, they shall be disgraced, they shall be put to ridicule in Jesus name.
Lastly, when you come under the influence of the Holy Spirit, your tongue will change. See what happen to the disciples:
Act 2:4 KJV And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Eph 5:18 KJV And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
He wants us to act or behave in the same way a man under the influence of intoxication of wine behaves and acts.
Until the Spirit moved upon Paul he could not do anything, Paul was filled with the Holy Spirit and his words made an immediate impact.
Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit too and he acted:
Act 4:8 KJV Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
He was able to speak boldly, Why? The Lord had told them that when they stand before magistrates, they should not premeditate on what to speak but something would happen:
Mat 10:19-20 KJV 19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
Mar 13:11 KJV But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
Luk 21:15 KJV For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
Luk 12:11-12 KJV 11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: 12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
Many times the reason why our words like ability and power was because they are not spoken under the influence of the Holy Spirit. It is just noise, empty words. I will not speak empty words any longer.
When you soak your words in the Spirit, your words are not ordinary words of man any longer, your words become heavy.
How God described His own words
Jer 23:29 KJV Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
Heb 4:12 KJV For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
How do you make your words heavy in the Spirit?
Just enter into the Spirit. John said I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day Rev 1: 10.
Samuel told Saul that when the Spirit comes upon him, he should do as occasion permits him
1Sa 10:7 KJV And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.
At this time, anything is possible
Job 22:28 KJV Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
We need to start functioning, speaking, talking under the influence of God’s anointing, under the influence of the Holy Spirit so that our words can carry power, fire and ability. So that no devil will be able to resist our authority and command.
Jesus word was with power
The world is tired of phonetics and grammar. spirits don’t speak grammar sir. Let our word be coated with power.
Luk 4:32 KJV And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
He assumed the tone and manner of a new Lawgiver; and uttered all his doctrines, not in the way of exhortation or advice, but in the form of precepts and commands, the unction of the Holy Spirit accompanying all he said.
Our word must be spoken with faith and confidence
2Co 4:13 KJV We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
Before we sing, teach and preach, go for an interview, discuss jobs, and business, let’s be filled with the Holy Spirit so that people will not ask you what nonsense he is talking about? They will not ask you to shut up and sit down.
