RESTORATION AND RECOVERY WITH COMPENSATION

RESTORATION, RECOVERY AND COMPENSATION

2Ki 8:1-6 KJV Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years. 3 And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land. 4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done. 5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life. 6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

In the text Elisha informs the woman the Shunammite woman to go and sojourn anywhere she likes because God had called for the famine in the land. Why was this woman single out for such information? Elisha did not announce the coming famine to the king or to the nation but only to this woman, why?

There are many things that happen and people ask questions. How come? How come no one was aware of this. The Bible says the Lord God will do nothing but reveal His secret to His servant the anointed. I pray for you, may God single you for divine revelations in Jesus name.

Amo 3:7 KJV Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Another reason was because of the past deed of the woman to the man of God.

If you remember the story of this woman in 2Kg 4:8 she and her husband had provided for Elisha’ sustenance, gave him bread, house and Elisha had rewarded them with a gift of son that died and was resurrected but now Elisha added to it by giving her information of impending danger. May God reward your labour and efforts in the kingdom in Jesus name.

There are many of us labouring tirelessly for the kingdom. This is what the Bible says:

Heb 6:10 KJV For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

In the days of evil, may your good works stand and speak for you in Jesus name.

The Bible says the woman arose, she did not argue with the man of God but went to the land Philistine. If you are a student of the Bible, you will know that the arch enemy of Israel was Philistine, yet the woman went there and was sustained. The Lord will use those that are against you to do you good in Jesus name.

During the Shunammite’s absence in Philistia, her dwelling and her grain-fields had been appropriated by some one who refused to restore them. She therefore determined to appeal to the king.

Every power that has taken what belongs to you shall release them by fire in Jesus name. Whatever has been confiscated, taken over, impounded shall be released to you in Jesus name.

Unknowingly to the woman, the King and Gehazi were discussing and Gehazi was telling the king all the miracles Elisha had done like: saying, tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done; the miracles he wrought, as the dividing of the waters of Jordan, and healing those near Jericho; the affair of procuring water for the armies of the three kings in Edom he needed not to relate, since Jehoram was an eyewitness thereof; the next was the multiplying the widow’s cruse of oil, when he in course came to those that were done for the Shunammite woman.

While Gehazi was talking to the king, he was on the matter of the Shunamite woman when the woman entered into the palace.

For some people, it is in the wrong places they discuss their matters; like in the coven, witches and wizards meetings, but this woman matter was been discussed in the palace. After this encounter, your matter will be taken over in the right places in Jesus name.

2Ki 8:5 KJV And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

It was at that exact time, the woman came in and the king asked are you the woman? I pray for you that you may be at the right place at the right time in Jesus’ name.

Ecc 9:11 KJV I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Ecclesiastes 9:11: NLT I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

The king gave a command concerning the woman for all her lands to be restored, all the produce of the field from the time when she left seven years till the time she was talking to the king. He gave her an officer to enforce it. not only her house and land, but all the rent, profits, and dues arising from thence during the time of her absence: the Jews except the rent of her house.

This is the compensation. What the woman did not laboured for, she got it. After this encounter, all that has been taken from us is returned in Jesus name.

How did it happen?

(1) The woman believed the man of God. Today many don’t have faith in the men of God or in the church but this is what the Bible teaches:

2Ch 20:20 KJV And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Mat 10:41 KJV He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

(2) The woman obeyed. She arose immediately. Based on the previous and past experience with the man of God, she received the instructions. Our faith is not complete without obedience of faith.

2Co 10:6 KJV And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Rom 1:5 KJV By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

(3) The woman took her case to the right place. Where do we take our issues and problems to? Take it to Jesus. He has the solutions. Don’t take it to the neighbours, friends, family members but to Jesus. How? In prayers and supplications.

Phi 4:6 KJV Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

God arranged the whole meeting and positioned Gehazi. There was divine arrangement by God. The impact of the story and the presence of the woman caused the king to make that decision for the woman to be compensated.

What should we do?

Because of the greatest restoration that Jesus has done we can have restoration of all things.

Much more than that restoration of the land and properties, the Lord Jesus has restored us back unto God through His propitiation, it is we that needs to be reconciled back to Him. His work on the cross restored the lost dominion and authority. We are now kings according to Revelation

Rev 1:6 KJV And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Rev 5:10 KJV And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

We can command restoration of whatever has been stolen, confiscated, taken lawfully or unlawfully. We can get them back. Our health, finances, time, peace of mind, years that locust had eaten can all be restored in Jesus name.
