11TH HOUR MIRACLES AND SOLUTIONS-2 DIVINE PROVIDENCE
11TH HOUR OF MIRACLES AND SOLUTIONS PART TWO
Divine Intervention and Providence
providence means a manifestation of divine care or direction; an instance of divine intervention
1Sa 23:19-29 KJV 19 Then came up the ziphites to Saul to Gibeon, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachiman, which is on the south of Shimon? 20 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand. 21 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me. 22 Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealt very subtly. 23 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hadeeth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah. 24 And they arose, and went to ziphites before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Moan, in the plain on the south of Shimon. 25 Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Moan. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Moan. 26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them. 27 But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land. 28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth. 29 And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.
11th hour miracle is when all hope is lost
The latest possible moment
The latest possible time before it is too late
It is the last possible moment for doing something: to change plans at the eleventh hour.
11th hour miracle is when there is no more expectation of joy
The 11th hour miracle is when expectation is totally disappointing.
11th hour miracle is when we ask question whether it can still work or not
The 11th hour is the right time for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of men to rescue, deliver, from shame, ridicule, frustration and disappointment.
In the text we read Saul got an intel from ziphites. The ziphites betray David. They told Saul that David was in the wilderness
Upon intelligence that the Ziphytes had betrayed him, he retired from the hill of Hachiman to the wilderness of Moan (v.24), and at this time he penned the 54th Psalm, as appears by the title, wherein he calls the ziphites strangers, though they were Israelites, because they used him barbarously; but he puts himself under the divine protection:
At this time, David expressed his feelings to the LORD in song, and that song is preserved for us in Psa 54:1-7. The title to that Psalm reads, A Contemplation of David when the ziphites went and said to Saul, “Is David not hiding with us?”
Saul with his army came to the very mountain where David and his men were, the one was on one side of it, and the other on the other side; there was only one mountain between them: he fled on one side of the mountain, while Saul was pursuing him on the other, and hastening to get round unto him: he took methods by dividing his troops, and sending them different ways, to surround David and his men, and had very near effected it.
But just about the time he would have taken David, the Bible recorded that a messenger showed up and gave Saul an information that made him too withdrawn from following David. That was how he was delivered at what I called 11th hour time.
1Sa 23:27 KJV But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.
When you write an English sentence and you put “but” it means you are changing the direction of the sentence from positive to negative or vice versa.
Though the Jews say it was an angel from heaven; but be it which it will, it was certainly the providence of God that directed this affair, that a messenger should come to Saul just at that very time that David was like to fall into his hands:
When the case went hard with David a providential surprise came to his deliverance. When “Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain,” there was but an inch of space between David and destruction.
But at that very moment there came a messenger to Saul, saying, “Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.” Saul then turned back from following David, and the place was called “Sela-hammahlekoth” , namely, the rock of divisions.
See the providence of God exerted for the salvation of David’s life! David and his men are almost surrounded by Saul and his army, and on the point of being taken, when a messenger arrives and informs Saul that the Philistines had invaded the land! But behold the workings of Providence!
God was working behind the scene and at the 11th hour when all hope seems to be lost for David. He showed up. God is showing up for you.
God had already prepared the invasion of the land by the Philistines, and kept Saul ignorant how much David was in his power; but as his advanced guards and scouts must have discovered him in a very short time, the messenger arrives just at the point of time to prevent it.
That was the case of an intervention. The action of intervening; interfering in some course of events.
But a messenger came to Saul: Out of the blue – actually, out of heaven – a messenger came to Saul, and drew him away from David to fight the Philistines. The hand of God was so evident that David and his men made a memorial of the spot: they called that place the Rock of Escape
Why do you think Saul was pursuing David? The obvious answer would be that he doesn’t want David to reign. This could be true and it is the truth but much more than that is the fact that the devil or evil spirit that came on Saul in 1Sam 16:14 was the one pushing, motivating and instigating Saul against David and the greatest objective of Satan was to truncate the agenda, program and strategy that God had put in place for the Messiah to come from the lineage of David. If Saul was able to kill David, Satan would have messed up big time the agenda of God.
But God protected David for His own sake and future liberation mandate of the world through the Seed of Abraham. David matters to God in the kingdom program.
In this period of the year, when it seems that all doors are closed, the Lord will make a way of escape for you in Jesus name.
When everything seems to be locked up and all doors shut, God will show up for you. A messenger will come in Jesus name.
The way to enjoy this is to receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour because He is never too late to rescue, deliver and help His own.
