BREAKING FREE – BREAKING THE DECREE

A decree is a law, an edict or a command. The Bible is a book of laws. God rules by laws or decree. The universe is governed by laws. We humans are governed by rules and regulations otherwise there will be anarchy and lawlessness which will result in confusion and chaos.

Decree = prescribed limit or boundary

Jer 5:22 KJV Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

In the text read, God Almighty is condemning the people that they will not fear Him And the reason why He said it was that the sea obeyed Him but Humans were not obeying Him.

What was the decree the sea obeyed?

The decree is that the sea will not break the bounds of sand. The sea may roar and try many attempts but it will not break it.

Let’s look at the decree as it is in other places

Job 38:10-11 KJV 10 And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, 11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

It says up till this place you will go but no further. Many people have been able to make progress in life up to a certain place then further movement and progress is stopped.

Psa 104:9 KJV Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

In the days of Noah God made a statement that He will not destroy the earth with flood again. It is “possible” that in connection with this, the psalmist may also have had his eye on the facts connected with the deluge in the time of Noah, and the promise then made that the world should no more be destroyed by a flood, Gen 9:11, Gen 9:15

This is the reason why bounds were set around the sea.

Job 26:10 KJV He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

Job 38:8 KJV Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

Pro 8:29 KJV When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

Many people know very well that the devil does not originate things but perverse the good things God has done. In this case the decree that was meant for the good of the earth and its inhabitants has been perverted.

Now the devil sets bounds around people so that they will not pass. This Is what He did t Job but Job thought it was God that did it to him.

Job 19:8 KJV He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

The Hebrew word for “fenced” is “gâdar” and it means: to wall up, wall off, close off, build a wall, to wall up, shut off.

According to all the places where we have read, as long as the sand barriers were there, the sea would not be able to break out. It doesn’t matter how violent the storm is, the agitation, when it hit the sand bars it will recede.

It is the same with mankind, no matter the attempt of the man, he may try all possible means, but as long as the bounds are there, he will not be able to break out.

The amazing thing is that God said He set the bounds by a perpetual decree. In order words, the positioning of the sands around the sea is a law or decree which is established.

How do you know that there is such a decree around you?

Just observed the sea, it runs to and fro and comes back to the same level. There is high tide and low tide.

Ecc 1:7 KJV All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.

How do you reverse a decree that is contrary to you?

You can only counter a decree by setting another decree. You use a decree to counter, cancel, nullify, eradicate, annul and stop operating.

Case study:

Heb 7:18 KJV For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

For there is verily a disannulling – A setting aside. The Law which existed before in regard to the priesthood becomes now abrogated in consequence of the change which has been made in the priesthood; see the note at Heb 7:12.

Heb 7:12 KJV For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Another Case Study

Est 8:5-10 KJV 5 And said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king’s provinces: 6 For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred? 7 Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews. 8 Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse. 9 Then were the king’s scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language. 10 And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries:

Esther came crying unto the king but the king told her, it is not a matter of crying. Whatever has been sealed by the king’s ring and stamp no man can reverse it. So he advises Esther in verse 8 to do the same thing. Make another decree.

When you read the story to chapter 9, the very day that was set by Haman which was the 14th day of the month, so also another decree has been set by Mordeccai and Esther to defend themselves.

Est 9:1 KJV Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king’s commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)

By their writing they set another decree that permitted them to avenge themselves. The question is how do we write today? How do we set another decree to counter the ones working against family, marriages, homes, jobs and businesses?

David gave us some clue.

Psa 45:1 KJV To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves. My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

David said my mouth is the pen of a ready writer. In order words with your mouth you rewrite things, change things, avert things, reorder things, cancel things, eradicate things, suspend things, annul things in Jesus name.

Under the New Covenant, we are endowed and empowered to make decree and declarations and they shall be established and become a done deal.

Mat 16:19 KJV And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Whatever you permit shall be permitted and whatsoever you restrain it is restrained.

Mar 11:23 KJV For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Jas 4:7 KJV Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Joh 15:7 KJV If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

PRAYERS:

Every bar and barrier set around me, every invisible barrier in life, breaks in Jesus name.

Every perpetual decree that has been enacted and promulgated against any area of my life be cancelled in Jesus name.

The sand was used by God as perpetual bounds against the sea, whatever the devil is using to confine my life and destiny, be broken in Jesus name.

Job 22:28 KJV Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. Therefore i decree that i shall prosper, i shall break boundaries, i shall conquer territories. I shall move forward. I reused to be confined and limited in life.

I decree and declare blessings and abundance, breakthrough, prosperity this day, divine protection and expansion without limit.
